Flat glass - blue mark detection

Cutting area selection based on blue mark position

Before further processing, flat glass has to be inspected in order to insure zero defect in terms of foreign particule, ink-mark, scratches, dirt, bubble, etc. One typical example is the detection of ink marks before glass cutting.

This first production step consists in cutting large glass panels in smaller rectangles. Ink -marks indicate the presence of optical distortion coming from the float . As glass with default is detected at the beginning of production cycle, this solution avoids to spend time and energy with glass that will be declared invalid at the final quality control stage. This solution allows to reduce losses, but also to record the amount of glass panels with optical defects coming from the float for statistical analysis. The system is particularly suited to glasses that have variable dimensions and contrasts, but also glasses with low light transmission.

Area camera technology allows a wide range of  usability and configurations adapted to industrial conditions. This proven technology offers the possibility to create areas of interest from the cut contour file in order to limit the detection to the useful area. The system also provides the following information: position and number of default spots, glass angle and  broken glass detection.
